First Annual Community Christmas Tree lighting event!

When: Sunday after Thanksgiving
November 25th from 4-6pm

Where: Downtown Bennington, Centennial Park.

- Coffee and Hot Chocolate will be served

- Lighting of the Community Christmas tree, donated by Bennington Pines!

Golf Tournament

On August 18, the Bennington Community Foundation (BCF) held its 7th Annual Golf Tournament. There were 140 golfers who participated in a 4-person scramble. The winning team of Bill Weidner, Mark Reimers, Kyle Reimers and Jim Curtsinger shot a 55, 17 under par.

Over $9,000 was raised with the proceeds going to ball field improvements at the Legion Field and the BAL fields. This year the Baseball Club, which manages the Legion Field, is expanding the sprinkler system to the outfield. The Bennington Athletic League, which manages the BAL fields, is planning to install sprinkler systems for some of the fields and to buy agri-lime for the fields.

Everyone had a great time golfing and enjoyed the meal and awards presentation that followed.

The BCF is already planning next year's golf tournament. Watch the web site for the date so you can be a part of it in 2008.

Bennington Daze BBQ

The Bennington Community Foundation (BCF) held a free BBQ on Friday night of Bennington Daze. The event was to bring awareness to the BCF and also to thank the community for its support. Donations were accepted but not requited.

The event was a huge success as over 400 people were served in 2 hours. There were enough donations to cover the costs and the balance will go back into the community.

Friday night of Bennington Daze is becoming a family night and the BCF wants to continue to be a part of it. That is why the BCF is planning on making the BBQ an annual event.

The BCF would like to thank the community for its support of this event. We also thank you for supporting our continued efforts to make the Bennington community a better place to live.
