The Bennington Community Foundation (CF) raised over $9,000 at its seven annual golf tournament. There were 140 golf-ers who participated in a four-person scramble at the August tournament. The winning team of Bill Weidner, Mark Reimers, Kyle Reimers and Jim Curtsinger shot a 55-17 under par.Winning Team

The proceeds are going to ball field improvements at the Legion Field and the BAL fields. This year the baseball club, which manages the Legion Field, is buying supplies to expand the sprinkler system to the outfield. They also will be buying supplies to improve and widen the warning track. The club will use volunteers from their members and other community members to do the labor.

The Bennington Athletic League (BAL), which manages the BAL fields, are adding a concrete drive, and repairing some sidewalks. They are also putting in sprinklers to the three bigger fields to cut down on dust and the loss of agrilime and will donate money to make improvements to Hickey Field.

Everyone had a great time golfing and enjoyed the meal and awards presentation that followed.
The BCF is already planning next year’s golf tournament.
